Hey guys. I just bought a new hvlp gun. I just wanted to find out if their are any major differences I should be aware of. I've never painted with one.
I know that it uses a lower pressure. 43 psi at the gun for the one I got to maintain the 10 psi at the tip.
I assume the setup of the gun is pretty much the same as with a conventional gun.
Just wasn't sure If there are things I should be aware of.
Thanks
Richard

It took me quite awhile to switch over from a siphon fed to a gravity feed after about 17 years, but I did it. I pretty much went by feel and not what I was told to spray at. So my suggestion is the same, if you are good with a regular gun, you'll catch on fairly quickly with a gravity feed.

Make sure you have the correct settings on your gun. The norm is about a 1.3 or 1.4 for basecoat, and a 1.5 or so for the clearcoat.

I used to use a 1.7 on my conv. gun with a special cap to give me an even bigger and better atomized spray. I used to get about a 13" pattern spraying single stage
