I want to do it myself & need to know what to use. Will use PPG products & want to practice with what the finished product will be to see what effects will be acheived. I have HD prime coat parts & want a pearl white paint w/white ghost flames. Can you list base coat colors, reducers, clears, reducers, etc. to be used for this job? Have painting experience on cars (thirty years ago) and trust the man who knows more than the "kid behind the counter". Realize I've probably given you a to short generalization but hey, ya gotta start somewhere.

Global White Base coat

Global 895 Base Coat Clear (colorless paint)

Global Clear (forgot the number)

Global Reducer / the same for all of the above

1 oz white pearl - They should sell you just an oz.

1 oz silver pearl - see above

3m 1/8" fine line blue tape

3m 1/ 2" or 3/4" masking tape

3m 1 1/2" or 2" masking tape

Shoot your white base coat followed up with 3 coats of 895 base coat clear mixed with white pearl. per 1qt. mixed base coat clear use anywhere from 1/4tsp. to 1 tsp depending on the amount of pearl effect you want. After that shoot straight 895 base coat clear over the pearl to protect (3 coats) Let dry over night - scuff up with scotchbrite pad or wet sand with 1000 - Layout flames and mask off - double check twice!! -- Here you can go with white pearl or silver pearl -- or both - - You're only gonna need a little, maybe 4-8oz's - mix it up and shoot 2 or 3 passes - or tighten up your gun and just shoot the edge of the tape to get a nice fade to white - -when you're shooting this - don't freak if you can't see it -- Trust me - it'll be there when the final clear is laid down!! Pull all masking and shoot final clear on -- color sand and buff --- Ta - Da!!! --- Bones!~

Bones...excellent. Just what I needed but am not sure of the flames. Are you saying I need 4 to 8 oz. of pure pearl to bring out the flames?

Nope -- That'd be 4 -- 8 ozs mixed -- Remember that you won't be able to see it when your sprayin (even the pearl over the white base will be hard to see) Use different spray patterns - up, down, side to side on each succesive pass - this will allow the pearl to lay down with out a "pattern" visible!! I would really try a test panel before you do the bike - -and also - for your bike you'll need about a qt of all the bases and clears - but the clears they only sell in gallons, usually they have an "open container" of clear or base clear layin around - see if you can buy just a qt from that and save yourself some money -- -Good luck and post the pics when you're done!! Bones!~

Actually more to it than what I've described. Am planning to use the ghost flames as background shadows for metallic green/blue/purple top flames. Good idea? Crazy (as in four letter word) idea? Color suggestions? I'm retired & have time and patience to do it plus a second bike if I screw up & need to get away to regroup before starting over. You've got me started on the right path. Haven't used one of these boards before so I need to know how to post the pics.
