hI guys im new. ive been wantng to paint my car and i have a few ?s on where to start.
The car has a factory black paint job, and i belive some one else has painted over it, so there may potentially be 2 paint jobs on this car, from reading, its not good to paint over this.. and i agree, i want this done right. The body is mostly metal , with a body kit molded in, so i was thinking can i media blast? i belive soda blast? is what should be used when hitting metal and fiberglass. id rather do this then DA , b/c well its alot of work lol.. my paint guy was on the fence, but it seems like a good solution. the guy who does the soda blasting does it at a lower psi as to not distort the metal and parts, thiss sound like a good deal? he charges like 125/hr, and will prolly take 4/5 hrs.. i think the savings in time/material is worth it, what do you guys think?
i am also wondering what to use to get the color i want. i want a satin black , like the rockstar cola can.
i belive my painter wants to use an epoxy sealer? that is already black, and then clear coat over that with some dulling agent to give it a less glossy, thus satin appearance.... does this make sense or should we be doing something else.?? thanx guys!
