Newbie Sanding?

I have not had a chance to try painting yet - I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good basic paint setup?

Anyway - the point to my post - why do you have to sand after putting the first couple of coats on a tank?

Welcome.If you haven't painted yet a basic setup is hard for me to tell you,some of the newer painters can help you out better.I'd say a cheap 'copy' gun and some cheap or mismixed paint and cheap clear on scrap steel are a beginning.The sanding is a loaded Q.If you're playing with lacquer (good for practicing spray technique but not the best for a job) it's required.Most of the sanding with BC/CC you're hearing is sanding to provide adhesion after extended drying between colors and grafix or sanding the grafix tape edges out of the clear before continuing.
