Getting ready to paint my bike. Gonna lay down a candy basecoat and either metal flake or do some shift flakes. Do I need to add the flakes to an intercoat or could I add them to a top coat and then shoot top coat by itslef over that. Also I've got a little body work to do. Know I'll have to prime those areas but if I just sand down the rest of the tank and fenders back to the factory primer would I just shoot a primer sealer over the entire area and go.

I would go ahead and get everything prepped, spot prime any areas you need to. Then when you have them prepped, clean them, tack them, then spray some sealer. Then spray the metallic that goes under the candy. Then spray the candy basecoat. Then if you want the flakes over the candy, I would suggest mixing this with interclear. Then you can topcoat clear. If the flakes are 'real' big, you may need to resand and reclear again.

I would suggest adding some basecoat hardener to the candy basecoat and the flake with the interclear, otherwise the topcoat clear will sandwich all this material and your paint job will end up chipping real easy.
