I bought a Qt of northstar clear off the back of a truck that comes to the shop today. He said he would give it to me with hardner for 20.00 as a sample. He also said its the best clear he has used and he other shops have been talking about how great it is. Has anyone used this stuff? I thought I would give it a shot for 20.00 but was trying to find out how well it holds up.

I was also talked into trying the Northstar clear by a Dupont dealer. He told me that was all he used so I bought some to try. I have to tell you, it looked GREAT! I buff all of my jobs regardless of the finished clear, but this looked great even before I did. Obviously when I did, the finish was Awesome. I don't know if anyone has found any down-falls, but my first experience with it impressed me and it was about half the price of some other clears I've used.
It was a low VOC Kwik Clear. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/peace.gif

He told me it layed real flat! How did you mix it? He told me 2to1 +10% reducer.

I just used the ratio straight off the can. I didn't even use a reducer and it laid down perfect. Using a reducer I imagine will aid the flow even more. The dealer only had a slow hardener, but I think that really helped. I would still stick to what you already know about hardeners and reducers.

Have you shot any yet?

Oh crap!!!!! Sorry, but there is a correction to all of my previous posts. For some reason I was thinking about Transtar clear that I used not Northstar. That @#$#$@% "star" through me. Sorry!!!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/foreheadslap.gif
