This weekend I was in the middle of a paint job and my gun fowled on me (Plastic threads for nozzle got stripped).So I ran to my local Lowes and picked up a HVLP Porter Cable. For the most part it’s a real nice gun and easy to clean. It comes with a 1.5 nozzle. When I shot my black base on the sealer it seemed like it wasn’t atomizing correctly and was a little blotchy coming out. I checked the pressure and turned the material down but still got the same effect. Which got me wondering if the nozzle was a little big or if it makes a difference? My other gun a Devilbiss comes with 2 nozzles a 1.4 and 1.6. I use HOK but I’m sure all paints are pretty much the same when it comes to this stuff. Does any one out there know what is the best nozzle size or size range for different materials (primer, solids, and pearls?)
