Nubee painting motorcycle

Hey guys, I've been lurking and reading for a little while now. I just got a spare set of tins to paint, and I'm ready to start prepping them.
Can I use 3M's 3inch roloc bristle disc's to remove the old paint and decals?
This will be my first real attempt at painting. I've bought a new spray gun and have my paint and supplies already. I've read all the tech sheets for the materials I'll be using.
I'll be spraying a urethane base, then appling decals on the tank, and clearcoating over that.
Any tips would be appreciated.

Edited : The reason I ask about the 3M disc is the fenders I'm prepping have decals or pin stripe under the clear coat and need to be removed. Otherwise I would just be sanding them down. See attachments.
Thanks
Dipstick

I've never used those dics...if you do decide to use them, let me know how it goes.

I would just get them media blasted for about $80-$100, and take them from there.
Save yourself alot of time and aggravation.

Thanks for your reply TAZ. I use them all the time in my trade for removing gasket material on engine parts, and they work really well. They are not really that abrasive that they would damage the metal. I do have a portable blaster I may use, it's just kind of a slow and messy process.
Again, thanks for your reply.
Richard

They come in different colors (grade's of stiffness) the 2 I posted and they make a white one also.

Thanks for the reply flamepain, I think I'll give them a shot at removing the decals at least, then probably blast the rest.
Thanks

I agree with Taz or strip them with chemical stipper kinda messy but cheaper and no sandblasting poruos surface if you do use stripper make sure the bare metal is very clean before primeing

Actually media blasting is like sand blasting, but leaves the parts much cleaner.
EASY!

Well I ended up using the 3M Roloc disc and they really worked pretty well. Then after I got the fender stripped down to bare metal, I had another dilema. I wouldn't be painting till next week. So I didn't know what to do to keep the metal from rusting up till then. I srayed it with penetrating oil and boxed it up till then. Is there another way? I know I'll have to be sure it's very clean before priming. I only get to work on these parts on the weekends so it's hard to complete all at once.
