Went out to look at my project and started to think about the steps I took when mixing the intercoat /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/headbutt.gif I put hardner in it! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/foreheadslap.gif The crazy part is Ive never had it spray out so nice. Did I blow my project?

Oooo, not good, don't you hate that /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/flame.gifI wouldn't trust it but I don't know what would happen, probably not good.It sprayed nice because the hardner acted like extra reducer.I feel for you,I've done the same stupid sh!t not paying attention.

OK,here's a feel good for you.I grabbed singlestage instead of basecoat and shot a tailgate for a piece of junk,as soon as I went in for the next coat and saw it had gloss I knew what I did.The boss said don't wipe it off so I added a little extra catalyst to the next coat and then threw a coat of clear on it.Haven't seen it back so I guess it's ok,and it was black of all colors. Can you say dumbass?

Man this sux! I knew better, I guess because I saw clear I added hardner. But it dried up nice, I dont even want to think about sanding it off and starting again! On the tech sheet it says hardner is "not required" Does anyone know the HOK tech line? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tonofbricks.gif

I feel for you man. I remember a couple of years ago i had to do some airbrushing on a guys tank. Thing took me 2 weeks of solid graft to do. Anyway went to clear it, layed on 3 good heavy coats of clear. When i finished i sat down, chilled out a bit. As i was glancing around i noticed instead of adding hardener to the clear i had picked up the wrong pot and added single stage clear. Have you ever seen a grown mans knees buckle? Anyway had to destroy the whole thing but managed to get a couple of pics for the website (http://www.kustom-art.bikeracers.net/1750RoyoTank.jpg) just to remind me to wake up when preparing paint and clear.

Man work like that and you and to start over!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/foreheadslap.gif A buddy of mine about a year ago was painting a bike and when he cleared he forgot to add hardner! He said it was a mess and had to clean it all off with thinner. I guess these things happen, live and learn! from now on the paint Im not using will be put away until its time to use it!
I just tried to call HOK but they were out to lunch. Man I hope they have something good to say! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/newbie.gif

VisioN...Your work is awesome! What a shame! I guess I've gotten off lucky. I thought I had it bad a few weeks ago when I had to sand a bunch of kandy and flames off.

tiller...good luck. Maybe they'll say it won't hurt? I've got my fingers crossed for you.

Ok Tech didnt know jack they were stumped, I guess no one else had done this /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/yay.gif So they sent me to the Chemest. He said that there wasnt enough resin for the harder to work all the way. He said it would take a long time to dry to the fullest. I then asked if I could use UC35 over the top of it then do my tape outs. He said that would be fine and to let the UC dry for 24hrs before doing the tape lines. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ohwell.gif Looks like I might get out ok on this one! I really didnt want to sand the Whole truck down and redo it! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/drink.gif

I guess if the chemist says ok it's cool but by the sounds of it I would let it sit a bit to let things happen, then scuff and clear.Lucky SOB you are,eh?Good deal though /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bigokay.gif

Don't feel bad.Last year,I found when you mix the UC-35 hardener with KP-21 epoxy primer, you make instant Cottage Cheese! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/foreheadslap.gif $40 shot in the A$$ in less than 2 seconds..Too many Beers with too many containers on the table I guess /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/haha.gif

Not really,I have a few pix of my bike's last job but not much of anything else.Have 2 bikes stored on the camera card and somewhere else but I'm bad about not remembering to take my camera to work before I give the parts back.I wouldn't post them here anyhow.I do have some cool pix of cars I've cut in half somewhere too /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/haha.gifSee if this comes up... nope,my pix won't come up.
