I have not tried nor do I know if you can put one-shot under the clear. One-shot being an enamel and (guessing) your paint is urathane I hear they don't mix

. To get pinstripes under the clear I do the process you mentioned but I use the House of Kolor pinstriping paint.

Stretch - You can do it, but be careful when you apply the clear - Dust on one or two tack coats and let them sit around five mins. apart - when you're ready for your "wet" coats don't try to make them flow - If you have to "wet" a coat it will reactivate the one-shot and it will wrinkle on you. I wouldn't shoot more than 3 coats and If your finish isn't as smooth as you would like, give it a couple of days to cure and the scuff it down with some 600 or 800 and reshoot the clear - by this time the one-shot won't cause any problems -- Good Luck Bones!~

Have done it and it works. Mix a few drops of the same catalyst you put in the clear and do a couple dry coats of clear first and it should be fine.

Stretch, you should shoot urethane insted of the SG100. reason being to level out the flames so the flame edges dont "peak " through the stripping enammal. also i hope you get the stripe perfect the first time around with no mistakes that have to be wipped off becouse it will stain the SG100 and probibly eat in to it. Use the uro clear to save what you have already created so if there any mistates they can be wipped off the uro clear very easily.

I've got my flames painted and want to do a pintripe but under the clear. Can I simply spray some intercoat clear over the flames, then do the stripe with one-shot mixed with a bit of hardener (from the clear) and then clear over the whole thing? I'm just worried about the one shot causing problems with the clear.

Thanks-Stretch

I was wondering if the createx would work through the striping tools. I would like to see the pics. Do the stripes lay out smooth with the createx?

Thanks to everyone for their advice on this matter. At some point I'd like to try the one shot but I was a bit too apprehensive this early in my painting attempts. I ended up using Createx Auto Air through a Buegler striping tool right over the flames. I let that dry and hit it with a hair dryer to set it. I then used some PPG clear over it all and things turned out pretty well. If anyone's interested, I'll see if I can't get some pictures posted. Thanks again for all your help.

Hey Twisted-

Here's the photos of the flames with the Createx thru Beugler pinstripes. This is my first attempt at pinstriping and only my second paint job so I've got room for improvement, but it didn't turn out terrible. A little confidence and a steadier hand would have helped the flames turn out smoother. I went too slow and it shows. It was nice doing everything with Createx and then clearing over everything.
