Ounces per coat

I was hoping some of you guys could give me examples of how much material you use.

For example, how many ounces do you usually end up spraying on a hood per coat of primer, base, and clear? Also what would the material usage be if you were trying to put on a wet coat vs. a medium coat vs. a light coat? I know usually clear and primer are put on in pretty wet coats, and base coat generally goes on with lighter coats because the object is not to achieve thickness and just to spray for coverage.

I would be interested to know how much material is good to use on these jobs.

I am still new at this, but would like to know if I'm in the ball park.

Hello, You didn't mention too many details so we don't have much to go by.
But let's assume you mean a 'smaller' hood like on a Honda Accord, I would say about 8-10 oz each of primer and base and maybe 10-13oz of clear.
This would be per coat.
I also assume you don't mean reduced or with any hardener in it. Also every painter sprays different, so that amount could vary quite a bit. Also, every painter interprets what a 'medium' and a 'wet' coat is, so that will also throw this off.
Not for sure why you would be concerned with specific amounts since you never put on just 'one' coat. And you also can't buy quantities of primer in exact amounts. Normally just quarts, pints.
You also will still have to consider that you will need reducer, and sometimes catalyst with the clear, primer, and base.

Maybe some more details will help in what you are trying to do.

I'm sorry I didn't give many details, but I'm not really trying to do anything. I have just found that either I am mixing up too much material or I am putting it on too lightly because I am ending up with a bit of material after spraying.

When I asked how much material was gone through per coat, I meant RTS material. I just know that after I'm done there is still material left in the cup, and I was wondering if I am using enough.
