Outlining graphics

Hey guys. I am starting to practice doing some pinstriping to outline my flames and stripes. I have seen 1 shot, Kustom shop, and HOK have paints. Can all these be cleared over? I thought I read somewhere that certain ones can cause trouble.

I've sprayed clear over all those. Some of those, you just have to be a little careful with. Mainly One Shot.

I will be adding a how to on how to do consistent outlines on both flames and graphics in the "How-To" section soon.
I've been using this method for 10+ years and it works great and I feel is even easier to spray over.

I have a step-by-step in there now, but it's how to do a reverse tape job...meaning doing the graphic color first, then the outline, then the base.

I find one shot to be the easiest to draw long lines with but man is it a pain with the clear. If you don't clear it doesn't look good in about 6 months. Interested to hear your technique for clearing one shot.

I've heard that you're supposed to add some hardener to One Shot before you clear over it, I'm not sure as to how much or what type of hardener though. I do know HoK's urethane striping enamel is ok to clear over right outta the can. You just have to use a urethane reducer to thin it out and you should be good to go.

I have also been told by a pinstripper in a another forum to add a few drops of the hardener that is used in your clear to the 1-shot. The only bad thing I have heard about the HOK is coverage/consistancy issue with it. Just gathering info.....ya know?

I wasn't a huge fan of the HOK urethane because of its dry time being too fast. It would start to dry out in my brush as I was using it but, that could have been from the heat because I was using it in late June or early July with high 90 degree temps. I guess, if possible, just get a few small cans of each and see what you like best.
