Oxidation - Whats the deal????

I hope this is okay to ask here, but here goes.....
I have a '91 Ford Ranger pickup. Some old dude owned it before me (another old dude) and the bright red paint is now a dull flat red. I have used Meguiar's Mirror Glaze #2 Fine cut cleaner on it and buffed it out then waxed. All my cloths and buffer covers turned red, but it did help for a little while. Now the dull paint is back.
What do I need to do to get rid of the oxidation or wharever it is causing my paint to dull and come off on my buffer?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks

Its a non clearcoated red on your truck. You can use a good true wax (like a paste) and get it to last longer than a glaze. Or you could re clear it, alot of work, single stage reds are notorious for oxidizing.

I agree with Austin. As old as the truck is it isn't going to stop because I'm sure the paint is thin by now and lost it's protective properties. The only real fix is get some good clear over it.While you're at it you might as well recolor it because the color is off now from being bleached out fo 12 years.Besides normal knicks and scratches you'll probably break through the color sanding it so touching up those spots only could stand out.
