New painter also. Painted motorcycle frame with HOK products. Pearl Orange over White base. After I cleared it, I noticed a spot around a hole needed more orange. When I sprayed more orange on this area it blistered. What did I do wrong and how can I prevent this from happening?

Sounds like you tried to rebase it over wet clear. Some paint lines will allow you to do it but there's a few timeframes involved when you can and can't.When you can't it does weird things like that.

The clear has to dry as long as they say for recoating but I'm not sure if it says in their tek sheets, you might have to call or e-mail them.Sand the whole thing down or I'd grey scuffy it and lightly sand out any flaws along with fixing the bad spot.Respray the spot and blend it out the tubes to hide it,then reclear the whole thing.Pain in the butt but it's the best way.You could blend the clear into the joints at the end of the tubes if you have a sharp line to break it on like a weld but it's tricky to do and not leave a visible tapeline.

Rex thanks! I e-mailed HOK and am waiting for a reply. I guess my concern is what happens if you scratch the frame, fender, etc and you want to touch it up? Thanks again.

By all means handle the custom finishes with care and stress to the owner touchups will look like poo.Your combo can be blended out but when you get to the candies it's a serious deal.Brush touching is out of the question unless it's certain solid colors and you're real good.

How long must the clear dry? If I need more base, when & how do I go about applying it? Sand it down and start over or what?
