painting bottom of a kayak

I have a friend who would like me to paint a small picture on the bottom of his kayak. He wants it to look like a butt coming through the bottom. lol What paints would be suited to do this? What type of prepping is involved? Is it even possible to do? Any help would be great.

Just sand her down like anything else but if it's plastic a plastic primer wouldn't be a bad thing.If the bottom gets beat up either do it in fairly cheap paint so it can just be touched up or for a nice job clear it in.I'd almost go for a polyurethane clear for scratch resistance.

Thanks Rex. I was thinking to do it in cheaper paint because he does like to do the cllff dives with it.
