i'd shoot down the base, then get some sg150 to shoot the flake w/ and then shoot 3-4 wet coats of clear. after that's cured, i'd sand it flat w/ some 600 grit (watch your edges, don't sand through) and then after it's (the clearcoat's) flat, i'd shoot another 2-3 coats of clear and sand and buff

shooting flake-

remember that the flake falls, so if you're trying to shoot it underneith something, you won't have much success. after my basecoat is dry, i'll usually start w/ the bottom of the tank and put it on a towel upside down and shoot it till i'm happy then let it dry and put it on my stand and blend the flake in w/ that. i'm talking about huge flake, not flake that you can get in a basecoat of silver or something like that.

good luck and do a test pannel if you're unsure of things. hands on is the best way to learn.

thanks for the advise...! One question, I've been told to lay the flakes down with sg100.... is it any BIG difference between the 150 and 100?

it's said that sg150 will let the flake float and lay down better. i've used only the sg150 so i can't give the comparison.

sure

sg150 is a bit thicker than sg100. hence sg150 will suspend he flake better.
also what size tip and cap do you have on the gun your using?

Okay cause I've heard that you could use both... Well I'll be using a DeVilbiss Finish line and a 2.2 tip

cool. should spray great w/ that size. jst be sure to not add to much flake to the sg150. too much won't "float",if it sinks to the bottom of the mixing cup it will do it in the gun, which is a big hassle to take care of. also under reduce the sg150 to keep it a bit on the thick side.
oh yeah you may want to keep the gun in your hand after you have sprayed each coat so you can swirl it around to keep the flakes moving and not settling in the cup.
post some pics when you're done.
if you've got anymore questions check out the sticky thread about old style aint. should answer most of your questions.
