Painting flames on a chopper Primary Drive belt

Hi Everyone,

I got a call today from a guy who wants realistic flames painted on the primary drive belt on his custom chopper. It's a high profile bike, and I would love to do the job,

But - what paint should I use? Is 1-shot the best idea?

The belt is some kind of Kevlar/rubber composite. I've seen a few in magazines that were painted, but no idea what they used, or how long the paint will last.

The guy knows it isn't going to last forever, but I'd like to give him as much mileage (sorry for the pun) out of this paint job as possible.

Can I use an automotive paint with a flex agent added?

Has anyone done this before? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/think.gif Any tips are *greatly* appreciated.

I would think that HOK KK would be best for these flames, but not for sure (haven't tried it). You can mix them with interclear to your liking.
Can't help you out too much more than that.

I believe there was an earlier post that someone did a step by step on them.
Do a search for 'reallistic' or 'lavalle' using the Flames Board search.

Thanks for the info Scott. The thread on realistic flames was a big help.
