I would like to do a little lettering and grafix on my rear window using HOK urathane bc/cc. What kind of prep should I do other than the obvious, cleaning. Adhesion promoter??
Thanks in advance

See if 3M still makes blasting tape,it's 2" tape but more like dense cardboard.Tape off the glass, lay out your lettering and cut it out of the tape but make sure the edges are stuck good. Now lightly wave a sandblaster over it to etch it.I've done this and it looks just like fine glass etching but I've never painted it.Of course going back is out of the question.Sure you don't want custom decals?

I priced decals and for what I would like, it was about $90 per window. Then it dawned on me that you see a lot of custom paint jobs on cars that the grafix go right through the windows also. So I thought I could the lettering myself using HOK paint.

You're getting out of the norm here and definately out of my realm but I know exactly what you're talking about.Just be leary of adhesion promoters that aren't bare substrate specific (and glass isn't close). Most general promoters give just enough grab to work but don't psh it,like the paint on the window being cleaned constantly or run over a belt molding if it's movable glass.

I think I will get a old piece of glass and paint it and see what happens. Leave it out in the sun for a while etc. Thanks for the help

If you're going to just paint logos on the windows, I would suggest using 1-shot lettering enamel instead.
