i am using a acryilic enamal paint. a metalic torquoise mixed at 8 to 2 to 1 ratio. the temp is around 10 deg. now the problem is my paint is coming out with no shine to it or uneven shine. some spots are kinda shiny others are not. What might i be doing wrong? i have about 30 psi running thru a suction feed gun.

I've sprayed in very cold weather (not that cold, but 35-40 down here in FL is a very wet cold).
I've also used slow in the temp, with no problems. I've also sprayed other weather temp hardeners with no problems.
So I don't think it was the temperature (it could have been though if it was that cold)
Did you have somesort of a heater at all?
My guess would be that possibly it was damp out and the moisture got into the paint and killed some of the shine.

ok the temp was 10 deg celcius or 50 farienhieght. so if moisture gets into paint that would wreck the shine? can u use clearcoat over a enamil finish? thanks for your help

Yes, I've had moisture kill the shine before on a acrylic enamel.

And yes, you can use a clearcoat over an enamel. It just goes on wet on wet.

You'll have to resand the enamel first before reclearing. If it's a solid color, you can get away with this. If it's a metallic, you should just repaint

Normally if it's the moisture that kills the shine (like I talked about above), it does this on the top portions where the moisture sits. It a appears that 100% of the paint is dull. So I would say it's something else. Possibly you just sprayed it dull?!
Was it nice a shiny when you were spraying it and after you were done? It should have looked like a sheet of glass when you were done (or close to it).

could you tell us the exact paint that you used part numbers for hardener and reducer? this may help us solve your issues that way we can read the tech sheets and atleast try to figure out what happened

on a side note it looks like basecoat with no clear on it.

the paint was given to me by a friend who had it lying around. there was no label on it but i thought it had said acrylic enamil on thr lid, it was just really faded. i think next time i will just spend the money on the paint
