Painting Hood/Bumpers

Just a generic question when painting hoods and bumpers and mine as well add in fenders because if you driving and stones hit them and chip the paint. What do you add in the paint to prevent that? I know how to paint properly just not what to add in it for it not to do so...

i dont really know of anything you can add to paint to not make it chip from rocks. When rocks hit your car something has to give and more times then not its the finish. I do know that 3M makes a clear invisible bra for alot of vehicles, they are kinda pricey but if you've got an expensive paint job you want to protect it would be money well spent.

You can get a flex addative that works well. we use it alot up here because of the dirt roads.it.s the same stuff we use on plastic parts.check with your supplyer and follow the directions .too much and the paint wont harden properly.cyas

Just be sure the base is hardened good. In most cases if a panel chips real easy, I think you'll find that a painter piles on the sealer and base, and then sandwiches it under the hardened clear. Especially tri-stage paints

You can add the flex agent as flamepain mentioned, but this is normally used on flexible parts.
I haven't used this for a long time, even on the flexible parts.

your best bet is gonna be "clear bra" or a reuseable clear vinyl that can be cut into peices and applied where you need it.
