That would work fine. You might as well make your own base for the flames. Take the orion silver, and add black, instead of buying the galaxy gray. This will save you about $40.

I made my own base and flame color on "job 79" in the Samples of Work section (and others), and it came out about the same.

Yeah Scott -- I was looking at your samples; #79 is *very* nice looking along with #81 and #89 - wonderful eye "candy"

Wonder how much difference using a gold or silver for base makes over a reddish color like the russet? hmmm...

Also, did you use an airbrush or a mini-gun for doing the flame outline?

Thanks,
John

Actually, not very much at all. Maybe if you had them all (silver, gold, and HOK cinder red) lined up next to each other (coated with the candy), you might be able to tell.

I now like using the gold base though. I think it does give somewhat a "richer" look to the candy.

Hi Gang,

So I'm gonna paint my Kaw Vulcan with a Kandy red / ghost flames theme and I have a picture here of a bike with a scheme very similar to what I want...

Flamed Roadstar

The question is: what combination of base coats/kandy will produce this look?

Using the HOK line I'm thinking Orion Silver Shimron metallic base overall, Galaxy Gray Shimron metallic for the flames, then Apple Red Kandy and Clear over the whole mess....

What do you think?

John
