painting over 1 stage paint

I'm in the process of repainting a drag car. It was previously painted with 1 stage enamal paint. can I sand this, shoot a primer/sealer and paint with bc/cc? or do I have to get this all off? (lots and lots of sanding!!)

As long as its in good shape you should be fine. If your worried you can prime it first, but as long as you don't break through it isn't needed.
