Painting over Factory Harley E-coat

I use PPG and HOK paints. The PPG tech sheet says that you can go right over the UNSANDED e-coating with the epoxy primer using the 401 catalyst. I have not done this. Has anyone done this with good long term results?

I trust the Harley coating but I just do not know about not scuffing it.

Thanks
Dave

If you have any doubt, scuff it. It will only take a few minutes to hit it with some scotch brite or 600 wetsand. It will take a lot longer to completely redo the paint if you find out later it diddn't adhere.

Happy New Year to all

The newer DP-LF with the 401 hardner will stick and actually feather out when sanded as long as the surface is completely clean,I tried it on some jambs and when I sanded the overspray off the outside to paint it the DP actually stuck and feathered out like the panel was sanded.Like the rest I still sand or scuff things first.I do rely on it for cutting in car parts though because you dont have to spend so much time scuffing down in those hard to reach areas that take forever to get sanded.
