Painting plastic/poly truck fenders

Hello I'm new to the board and did a search and didn't find the answer I was looking for so here we go. I'm gonna order a set of minimizer plastic/poly fenders for my semi truck but the paintable fenders cost almost twice as much as the plain black fenders so I just want to buy the black fenders and paint them to match the color of my truck. Some people say it will work and some say it wont. Near as I can tell the biggest problem with this is getting all the mold release off of/out of the poly/plastic & dont forget to add the flex agent to the paint.

Have any of you tried this or painted plastic/poly before with success???? Also, is there one paint brand that would be better than other brands for this????

Welcome aboard , whenever I paint plastic here's what I do . Wash with HOT soapy water (dawn ) . Wax and grease remover , red scuff pad , wax and grease remover again . Then I use a adhesion promoter called Bull dog . Paint with your choice of paint , forget the flex additve , old tech . Good Luck.
