I've built a really extreme...Golf cart...I've got PPG Deltron base and clear and I'm going to flame it, just for the heck of it I started looking for advice on painting plastic, some say use a plastic promoter and some say you don't have too, I've taken this thing down to bare plastic because of UV degradation on the plastic and the paint that was on it. So is the PPG primer not going to be enough or should I go buy some of this promoter? Please help, I thought I was ready to paint this thing today but now?????

If the thing is plastic.I would definately use a plastic adhesion promoter first. This bites into the plastic, which in turn the primer will bite into the promoter. You will be sure to have problems if you don't use it.I've been there.Good luck.

Basic rule of thumb, if the plastic floats in water, use adhesion promoter. If it sinks, nothing special. I always use epoxy primer on plastic, will stick to anything.

Ive used bulldog in a spray can. Its works great but leaves a TON of peel! I dont know if they make it in a quart form. Ive also used PPG and HOK plastic promoter. They both work very well!

Ive used the Bulldog adhesion promoter in a quart can and it works great with no peel, just make sure you use 2 or 3 strainers. If its a little old, it starts to form little chunks in the can.

They're not really "chunks" but just tiny little specs. I think its from where some of it has dried out around the threads on the cap.

Overall, I think the Bulldog's still an excellent A/P. It even works better than my high dollar R-M stuff.
