partially painted tank with some bare metal.

What do you do If you have a tank that has a good base coat on part of the tank and bare metal on a part? Do you wet sand the whole thing and then primer seal the whole tank? I'm trying to avoid sanding the whole tank down to bare.

You shouldn't wet sand anthing that has exposed bare metal. feather out any edges and then use a primer surfacer then you can wet sand
