Hello, Welcome to the forum.
If you put the pearl UNDER the candy, it really won't have an effect. If you put if OVER the candy, it will more or less 'kill' some of the depth candy is known for.
Try doing a base, then add some HOK MetaJuls or UMF-02. Then add your candy over this. OR, you could do a metallic, then your candy, then spray some Liquid Crystals over the candy. This will give it a very neat effect. VERY costly to do, but a nice effect

how do you think it would look highlighting my edges with a slightly darker silver base? say the edges of the front guards edges of roof then the tops of the rear quarter panels and the back of the boot before applying the candy? im currently prepping my best mates car for paint and i want to blow him away with something different and dont know a great deal when it comes to candy paint and the way they will work with different things underneath them.

I'm not for sure what are painting, but I would think this would look fine. You could always just spray a couple stripes and candy over these. If you go with a silver base, add some charcoal metallic stripes. Then candy whatever you are painting. This would look sharp to!
