Plastic bumper sanding?

I have a dent in my rear bumper. Its a 02 maxima pearl white. Tommorow i'm taking the bumper off, poping the dent out, and sanding it down ready to primer . I wanna get it 100% ready so all I have to pay for is a paint job and nothing else.

My question is. How far do I sand down? Do I hit the whole bumper with 240 grit, and get it down to the plastic?4.jpg

Boy if it were only that easy, first off you may have to heat the bumper to get it to pop back out to shape but then it may only be close. then you will need to feather the repair area out and use a flexible body filler to fix the remaining imperfections from the dent. then you will need to block sand the filler and primer the area to get ready for paint. it all sounds easy but I am guessing that's a 10hr job for a DIYer check this video out to see whats involved in what you have or will need to do. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WnZOHGwSPLs&feature=channel

Wy is right you need a heat gun or a curing lamp with a pry bar to pop that out then put some filler on it let filler cure block it hit surrounding area with 320 grit with a da to a hand width away from the filler so the primer have something to grip spray 2k primer on it guide coat it wet sand with 400 then scotchbrite the whole bumper with some final sand grit its a paste

1. First of all, you need to buy a liquid plastic that matches your type of plastic on the bumper. Be sure to consult your dealer.
2. Remove the bumper. It might not be so easy. Carefully read the instructions in your vehicle.
3. Clean the affected area with special means to care for plastic. Do not forget the edge of the holes.
4. Rub the damaged area with sandpaper. Using a drill and drive to make V-shaped groove.
5. Stick masking tape (better to take a self-adhesive fiberglass tape) on the front surface of the bumper. On cardboard mix adhesive mass and thickener. Apply the paste on the masking tape. This is to align the surface of the bumper.
6. Further masking tape is removed and the surface cleaned and zashkurivaetsya again. This place is applied liquid plastic.
7. After the plastic froze to polish the surface.
8. The final stage - painted bumper

Good replies by all.
That appears to be a tri-stage white pearl on the bumper. Can't tell for sure.
That will add more to the steps (and cost) involved.
