Hey folks,
I've done pin ups and portraits in the past by applying frisket film and cutting with an exacto blade as I go along. This method has worked wonderfully for me on a larger scale. For doing smaller pin ups or life like portraits on motorcycle tanks would this also be the preferred method? Is the Iwata Custom Micron an absolute necessity ?
Thanx in advance...

kustom i'm pretty new to this so you might want to wait and see what the other guys have to say but from what i've read and experienced it seems as though frisket and auto paints dont always work well together it seems as though the stickum on the frisket bites into base coat paint. especially if your using house of kolor. it ruined a helmet i was doing. you may want to try transfer tape or the new stuff they call auto mask i think coast airbrush carries the automask. any shop that does vinyl decals can get you the transfer tape. I've used it so far without a problem. as for the custom micron it may not be necessary but it will make your life much much easier. i got mine from coast airbrush and swear by it. it truly is the best brush i have ever bought. hope this helps

I do silkscreen printing and vinyl stickers. If transfer paper works good in lieu of frisket film, you can buy a 300' roll of 15"wide transfer paper from a screen printing supply place that also does vinyl. I get mine from McLogan Supply (www.mclogan.com).

I'm planning on doing some ghost flames on my golf car. I think I'll try the transfer paper idea!
