I've got a tank console thats been powder coated black and it has a very minute orange peel in it.
Is it safe to wet sand and lighty buff this stuff to remove the peel ?
Any Tips on this would be appreciated.
Thanks

Powdercoat is tough stuff and I don't know if you can scuff and buff it.I'd live with it or strip it off and do a normal refinish on it.

Pete, Some of the powder coating can be sanded and painted over. It just depends on who's/how it was processed. If you can sand it, you can prep and paint over it. If it doesn't sand like paint, strip it and finish it with paint. Good luck, TC /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bigokay.gif

Yes, you can sand and buff powder coat. Just be careful if you didn't do the coating yourself as most guys only use a very thin coat of powder and you can easily cut through corners. Treat it just like you would cured paint.
