Pre Cleaning

Good Morning.Does anybody know or have used windex as a pre cleaner prior to clear coating.Somebody mentioned it on this forum the other day.Sounds like trouble to me.

Yes it is used but you still use a solvent based G&W remover prior to painting it is used like others use alchol to clean the impurities left behind that the solvent based products wouldnt pick up

Just wondering why anyone would not want to just wax and grease remover rather than windex or some other cleaner???

It seems that there is too much work that goes into painting something to take a chance with something else.........

Some say or feel there are things wax & grease remover dont clean like oils from fingers (example?) also I have heard it helps remove static not sure though /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cheers.gif

i heard that grease and wax remover is NEVER to be used on a b/c or c/c. I heard it is to harsh for the clear coat,

I've used it for 10 + years and never had a prob.

Same here. I never had any problems except when I wiped a base coat with it really wet. Other than that, I have had great luck.
