Primer?

I am going to be painting a metal tin for a motorcycle with the oem paint on it already. The oem paint is in perfect condition. It does have a logo on it that I will have to sand out. My question is, can i just put on an etching primer and spray the basecoat or do I need to do more to prep the bare metal spots?

as long as all the sanded area is smoothed out and everything has a good sanding, you'll be fine w/ etching primer.

i usually just block sand it w/ some 220 grit to the primer on the stock finish then just use my regular ol' primer.
