I want to flame my Harley. What is the proper way to prep the tank and fenders before painting the flames?

after saying that i don't know where the how to section is now, and there is a bounch of typing involved in answering.

scott should chime in and let you know where to look.? if not I'll be back and and get my fingers streched properly for the answer to your question ;]

Hoss is right.
It's a pretty vague question to answer without spending a ton of time doing a step by step. I did have a step by step, but this was just to layout flames. The step by step was made after the painting was already done and the surface was prepped ready for the flames.

In a nutshell, to prep the parts for flames, you basically want to make you 'scuff' the surface very good. You can wetsand your current surface with 1000 grit. Be sue and get rid of all the shiny spots. Once you do this, you layout your flames, mask up the rest of the areas that are not getting painted. Then you can paint your flames, remove all tape, clean the surface, then clearcoat.

Just the basics, but this should help you.

Good luck to you!

I searched and searched and couldn't find how to get to post you guys are talking about.

Carson.

I'm in the process of reworking it. It will probably still be another month before I add it to the forum.

Thanks...
