Question about removing swirl marks

I was buffing a fender that has a black base with a metallic red flame and HOK clear. I'm using 3M's 06011 & 05996 with 3M's white then black foam pads. Then Maguire's # 7 glaze by hand applied with a foam pad and buffed with a polishing cloth. It came out really nice except for very, very fine swirl marks. Now they don't show up over the metallic red, just over the black. And if you back up a step you can't even see them. Is there a way to get them out ? Should I try a different glaze ? Or since I can't see them on the red is this just a case of black shows everything ?

It is really just a case of "black shows everything"
Even just wiping dust off glossy black will show up the wiping marks.
What are you using for polishing cloth??
If you go to the bodyshop supplier and ask for good paper like polishing rags these might help if you arent already using them.
Maybe before doing the final glaze you could wash the panel with clean water and chamois it dry so it is dust and lint free.

I'll second what shaunboy says (black shows everything) . After you hand glaze or polish 3m always worked for me, when ever you wash or wax it try to use only soft cotton towels i find the natural oils in chamis'pull waxes off. good luck

I went to the local PPG guy who sold me some McGuire's Swirl remover ('Professional grade" on the label, for what that's worth.) They had several types. Tried the green stuff...didn't like it. Bought the tan stuff and it was perfect. One was labeled #9 and one #3. Don't recall which was which, so open the bottle and get the tan stuff. I'm at work, so I can't run out to my shop and look at the bottle. Sorry.

Just got done doing a black tank, used a 3M foam pad on a low speed rotary buffer and the swirl remover as the last step. Not a swirl mark or scratch on it. Took me a couple times to figure out just how much product to use, how much pressure to apply, etc., but once I got the hang of it the results were great. Your mileage may vary.

Beware of waxing paint that is not fully cured.
It seals off the paint that is trying to dry.
it can go chalky and even get into the top of the paint and require a mission of a removal.

I also use the maquiers swirl remover.#9.
Buy the light foampad for your da.Apply it with the pat like a glaze.I mist the pannel with water as i use the swirl remover. Then let it haze up and wipe it off.If you still see fine marks,do it the same only dont wipe it off, wash it off with a mild detergent solution and a paint squeegee. No marks there!

I just picked up some of that Maguire's # 9 and I'll give it a shot on the next set.

Thanks.

I made the mistake of buying the Swirl Free Polish, not the Swirl Remover #9. When I did try the #9 it worked great! I used it with a black foam pad.
