i am wanting to re paint some atv plastics that have been factory painted. i think all i need to do is scuff this factory paint but there is a few chips in the factory paint and clear. am i going to have trouble with my paint wrinkling where these paint chips are? how would i do a spot repair where these chip are? should i wet sand the chips and give a shot of adhesion promotor followed by a little shot of epoxy, base then clear? have been told to shoot a little clear first and lay the color on top of that. any sugestions?

using HOK metalic base and SPI universal clear

I would sand the parts down very good. Possibly with 220 or so. Use a DA. Feather out the chips. Then prime.
Then resand with 320 and even wetsand since they are 'plastic'. This will give you a good base to paint over.
Then you can paint.

I know that last ATV I did, the plastics were VERY flimsy. I painted them, but told the customer I couldn't warranty them. Probably the most flimsy pieces I've sprayed.
