Reclearing prep

Wound up getting some trash in my last coat of 2021 clear. Wet sanded out the trash but i want to reclear the hole car. Have always used the gray scotch-brite and soap.

Does anyone know what the grit rating of the gray is as well as the red gen purpose. And is the red to coarse to do a final wash with.

The red is too coarse even with water.I can't recall the grits but I think the grey is 320-400.When used wet it cuts a finer scratch than dry but I don't know grit wise.If I reclear something I like to DA it down with 600 or 800 to level it out and scuffy the edges and then the whole thing just enough to clean the sanding dust out of the scratches. It's easiest with a hose or you go thru a ton of rags drying it before it dries up and you're right back to where you started.Sure you don't want to buff out the spot?Reclearing a car is a little expense.

Thanks Rex for the reply. Unfortunatly the car got hit with a bunch of sanding dust. and a fiew bugs. Mix a helper with an open door and you get one really PO ed painter.

Rex,I was sanding on a couple or drips in the clear, got carried away and broke thru, how do you blend it?I really don't wanna reshoot the whole quarterpanel.

Hey guys, big bummers. If the bugs don't sand out you should spot it too Cuda.Jim,wet the surface and really make sure the drips are gone or block it with 600.You guys should reclear the whole panel if you want it right, otherwise the blend edge will haze out and look aweful later.600 on a DA or 800 wet the panel, blow some color over the bad spots and step out each coat then reclear.
