Question: when HOK clear is ready to recoat, that is when it is tacky but not stringy, how long can you wait before you must recoat. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

You'll get different opinions on this but, I wait until its just "skim dry" and recoat. Most wait until it stringy when you put your finger on it and then recoat. The reason that I wait just a little longer is that, I want to make sure the solvents are out. I used to have a solvent pop problem when I first started. That can be a cause of several reasons but, I just want to make sure that I can build to 3 or 4 coats.

Actually HOK clear you would wanna wait until its beyound the stringy point or else you will run it, it behaives like an old school clear, using a tack coat and so on.

I Agree with these guys, wait until it's tacky; if it's stringy it's real easy to run.... just don't wait until it's totally dry.
