HI,

This is my first post, and I’ll try to keep it short. I’m a painter, but NOT an expert with paint on autos/motorcycles, especially with a matte finish. Long story, short….

Purchased the bike, and noticed a scratch on the tank. I’ve been told that it’s impossible to fix a matte finish, that the whole tank needs to be repainted. I’d be happy with a product that can conceal the scratch.
I’ve purchased a protective film to go over the mark. The film can hide most existing scratches, scuffs, etc.

I’d hate to apply it and still notice the scratch. Any recommended paint products, and/or concealment tips for a matte finish?

If I run my finger over it, there is not indentation. I purchased touch-up paint, but it actually looks brighter than the current paint.

THANKS!!

You can blend it in with black, then clear with flattening agent to make the area look better, but working with a satin paint job, it's hard to blend and make it look right.
Really your best bet is to sand the complete tank (600 DA, then 1000 wetsand). Blend the black, then reclear.
Be sure and do test panels first until you get the correct mixture to match the original sheen.
