i'm not scott, but it can be done. this is how i'd do it if you're talking about traditional flames and not realistic ones.

lay down your black base-

lay out your flames then spray them w/ a dark gold metalic.(you can add some black to your gold to make it darker)

spray red candi over the entire thing. add coats till you get the desired deep red.

on your flames you could use pearls, matalic base coats, just metalics. you could spray around the edges, do a cris-cross paturn, paint the entire thing, fad it from light to dark (gold to silver) it's up to your imagination, and test pannels always help out.

good luck

Hoss is right...you can use any color you want under the candy red. Darker thebase, darker the candy color comes out.

Looks like a black base with candy red flames.
My guess would be a medium to brighter red metallic for ghost flames, then coated with candy red. The flames don't look as bright as normal.

You can choose whatever metallic you would like to use under the candy. The brighter the metallic under the candy, the brighter the overall candy color.

Oops

I posted the same tank twice.
The other tank is the third one on that page.
It's alittle brighter.
You don't think it's gold under the Pearl?
And one more thing.
My For a base I wanted to use a black covered with a black , intercoat and red pearl mix. (to get a kinda deep almost black, Black cherry after candied.)
What would you suggest to get a Deep, almost glowing Flame.
And do you think the black will look dusty?
Sorry for all the questions.

That job does appear brighter, but you can't really tell in pics. If you want the flames to stand out more, definately go with a silver or gold under the candy.

If you want a very subtle base, you can add the pearl, then add the candy over this. This will look black out of the sun and a very dark candy in the sun.

:luck:
