Removing tape

I was wondering what is the best way to remove tape after spraying. I've seem paint peel so I'm a little sceptical about doing it. Should I use and exacto to go over the edges or just peel it off. Can someone help me?

Taking off tape after painting can be scary. I've been told by people who know more than me,( and thats alot), to pull the tape back holding it close to the masking that is still attached. Don't pull it straight up. I have been taking off my tape when the paint is past the tacky stage, but not nearly cured. The paint will lift slightly as you take off the tape, but will lay back down and not leave a heavy edge as it does when you let the paint fully cure.

Good Luck

If it peels it's an adhesion problem but even if it is sanded underneath the peel other things affect adhesion.Nooshie's right, the best time is somewhere after it's flashed off.If you let it cure sometimes the tape will tear at the paintline and rip away, making it a pain to get started again.Pull the tape about 180 degrees and if it rips once cut the edge with a blade.Be real carefull with blue fineline because it has a habit of rolling out from under the clear or paint, definately cut it loose if it's dry.

I was told to pull it along the tank away from your artwork, so the tape cuts itself free

Yes,I think.I fold the tape 180 right back over itself and keep it that way through the turns so it cuts itself free.
