Yes,it's for minor filling. If you have bare steel also make sure it wil stick good to it.

I haven't had a cracking issue with Dupont's filler primer over bondo, but I usually spray thin coats. Also, I've sprayed a sealer primer (not on bare metal) or urathane primer over putty first and if there's any slight pits, or sanding marks in the putty I use filler primer then. Actaully it's best to make sure your putty work is perfect (let the putty cure) & then shoot 3 wet coats of urathane primer. That works for me.

Also there's a product called Clear Coat/Base Coat filler putty (not sure if that's the full product name). I've had the best results with it!

goodluck!

Sorry Jawbone, the cracking primer is from plowing it on,either it cracks immediately from hosing it on or later from having way too many coats on after final sanding.Your last 3coat prime shouldn't cover more than 3 coats tops so after you final sand you end up in the 4 area.Same happens with all material, you get over a certain millage or thickness of the same product and it'll break.Oh,that BC/CC mud is good stuff,a bit pricey but you get what you pay for in general when it comes to mud. There is a bit of a name thing so you can get screwed but if it's within a few $ the cheaper is fine.

Thanks to all for the help. I sanded down to the metal and picked up some new primer/filler, I think that stuff was old too. I went with 3 light coat's this time and after sanding I have some metal showing in some spot's, is it ok to put on some more primer over dry primer, thanks!
