Sandblast cabinet size?

Hi guys, I'm looking to buy a sandblast cabinet for bike tanks/fenders. I am looking at one that is 28x28x48. Is this big enough for what I need? Also I understand that Al oxide may heat up parts too much and cause warpage - is glass bead the way to go, or walnut shell, or??
Thanks for the help!

if its a syphon fed blaster you wont have any warpage problems glass bead is a realy good all around medium.it does a great job on motor parts as well (realy smooth) and will also strip old paint etc from your tins and fenders and such.if room is not an issue go big .you might want to put a bike frame in there one day.cyas

Thanks! I didn't even think of the frame...I'll see if I can fit a cabinet in that big.
Thanks again,

Don't know if this will help you, but we bought ours from TP tools about 3 years ago and still works great.

Ours is a Scat Blast.

Good Luck

We were using the glass beads, but we just went with the normal bags of $5 sand we get at our local auto body supplier

:luck:

Thanks Taz, I ended up buying the 960 from Scat - just got it, it's nice!
Question, when blasting fenders/tanks, do you normally blast the undersides as well, or just the outsides and scuff the undersides?
thanks again for the help!

Mark,
Great to hear

Great cabinet to have. We just do the outsides, then scuff the undersides.

They **** up a lot of air, so sand when you can and use the blaster as a last resort.

Be sure and stock up on some of the tips and keep some extra sand bags handy!!!

If that's silica sand (like the white play sand) watch you don't breath that stuff in, it will make the hair fall off your chest. ;)
It's a known cancer causer.

First post, wanted to say Howdy to all. :goodbye:
