Our shop usually uses 3M Crystal Bay 6" DA paper for prep.
Each roll runs about $23 versus about $75 for 3M's best. I forget how many sheets on each roll though.

As far to sand the clear before flames, we use 800 Hookit 2.

I have tried the DA before buffing...hard to do the switchover...we still just do the ole' wetsanding before buffing.

As far as DA's two guys use Dynabrade and I have a Hutchins. Dynabrade seams to be an excellent brand. Nice and light. Keep in mind, Dynabrade also has three different type DA sanding aggressiveness. I believe both guys have medium.

Off to the Hockey game...go Bolts!!!

Also, you have to keep in mind, how many sheets you get. I bought a roll of 180 DA off e-Bay. That came with 250 sheets versus 100 for about the same price.

Socajun...
Go lightning!!...what a series that was!!! Everyone in Tampa is lovin' it. The local fans that didn't know about the Lighning sure do now.

The only 3" paper I know of would be the fileboard sheets which I think are 3" by 17". I think.
If you want 3" DA, you can cut down the 5 or 6" paper.

What years did you play for the Kings?
