I am currently preping a helmet with tons of curves and no matter how much I sand I can never get into the curves. how would you handle this situation?

Are you trying to sand everything off or just trying to scuff it before painting it -- If you're just scuffing it pick up a 3m scratch pad and have at it - -Bones!~

I am just trying to get a paintable surface. Is a 3m scratch pad like sand paper on a sponge? I try to find one . thanks!

The green/grey 3M scuff pad with 3M blendprep is the hot setup. pore a little blendprep on the pad and go to town. rinse well with plain water.

It's probably a paste with fine grit in it.If you don't think you'll use a tube that will do at least 2 dozen helmets don't bother.Get a grey 3M Scotchbrite pad and cut in 1/3rds length wise and fold a 1/3 in half.Wet it well with water and wet scuff it wiping it clean before it starts to dry.Use the 3 folded over sides to cram up against edges and the fold to get down in radiused areas if there are any.Don't use it dry though. When you're done rinse the residue off and solvent wipe to continue.I'd say it's the best thing since pizza and beer but it's not quite there.
