Sanding & ready to paint my failed pro paint job

Good morning! Shout out to "taz"
Well let me start by saying thanks to all that make this site possible, I've buffed my truck and saved a few duckets doing it myself...thanks !!

Early this winter I had my sport bike fairings professionally painted using the ppg earth wind colors , (parrot green ) and using urethane paint.
Problem was it was already painted from nice cycle , coming from overseas (china) and matching was going to be difficult.
The paint shop sanded and repainted , it was a clean job but the complete job did not make the end of the riding season. Around the fairing mounting holes and some belly pan portions the paint did not stick, began to peel off and chip. Good thing is the season is over and I kept the old fairings. Well one of the fairings needed some repair due to broken fairings. Well all the repairs are complete also with reinforcement. Because around the holes I observed paint chipping I decided to sand the paint complete off and start all over on bare abs plastic.
Now that I have the parts completely sanded and all hardware in route I still haven't decided to:
1. set up and completely paint my fairings
2. set up shoot primer and do all finish work before sending parts to be painted by shop
3. See about peeping the parts and having the shop just shoot the parts and I wet sand between coats

The deal is I don't want to pay out the pockets ($1300) only to get a 3 coats color 3 coats of clear only for paint to chip months later. Now keep mind that chips only occurred around mounting holes and some edges. There was the occasional paint chip due to road debris..

Questions are :
Is there a plastic adhesive primer for plastic ?
Has anyone ever use primer with the earth wind colors from ppg (urethane)?
How long does color have to be sprayed on primer, can I do the finish work using primer then after finish work is done shoot over the primer ?
Any insight will be appreciated
Thanks
V/R

Glad you are happy with the outcome of your truck!!

Sounds like you are doing a more involved project!

Actually, $1300 is pretty good is that includes materials.
You figure about $60-$100 a pint for each color plus the clearcoat, sealer, hardener, reducer, adhesion promoter, thinner, sandpaper, masking materials....
Wouldn't that cost also include prepping the parts and wetsand and buff?

If you do the prep, you know they won't warranty it. I'm sure they may claim that it was your prime/prep.
BUT, if you are looking to do it cheaper, I guess that would be the way to go.

That's pretty good you got those stripped down to the raw plastic. That is a ton of sanding to do without destroying the plastics.

Back to your questions though...
-Yes, there is plastic adhesion promoters out there. You can contact a local supplier and they can help you out on what they carry.
-Shouldn't be any problem using a primer with actually any paint. You;ll need to spray the adhesion promoter on before the primer. Then you can 'seal' the parts once you're about ready to paint.
-I'm not for sure what you mean by the last question
