On the stretch tanks, we just clean the welds and grind any big eccess welds of. It's not advisable to grind any of the welds because it could create a very thin spot and leak down the road.

As far as the extensions, our first coat is duraglass, then we skim coat the complete tank with plastic (bondo). We also do the underside and the front section (the small part that is angled in where it bolts to the frame).

Don't know about the green bondo. We just use a good grade.

Enjoy!

The green filler was a putty I believe like most any of the poly putties available.Rage is very good mud along with one called Basecoat Clearcoat.I've heard alot of people like Icing for putty but cant remember who makes it,USC maybe?Get putty in the squeeze tubes though instead of the can, they're easier to get out.I don't mean Claw Glaze or Nitrostan laquer putty when I say in the tube, but the 2part polyester putty we're talking about.Like Scott said, just knock the nasty blobs down to the level of the main weld and melt it out with plastic.

Thanks Rex,
I personally use the 3M filler putty in the tube. You can watch it flow out when you lay it on. Great stuff. How times change. No more poly putty in a can (at least for me-and you

I think the green stuff is MarGlass, or something like that.
Scott and rex, can you tell me more about the putties in the tube? I'm assuming you guys aren't talking about the red laquer spot putty type stuff.
