sealing around motorcycle filler neck

OK, I've painted one fender and painting the other this weekend. Then I'll be starting on the tank.
How do you deal with painting around the filler neck to keep gas fumes and gas from getting under the paint and messing up a nice paint job?
Can the paint be sealed in that area somehow, if so with what? I've heard nail polish would work, but what makes it impervious to gas?

As always thanks for your replies and expert advise.

i try to keep my edge away from the rubber if possible. i use por 15 to seal the edge. i've heard some that use just the clearcoat brushed around the edge. sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. but the most important thing is the placement of you paint edge.

I used the nail polsih trick on my bike and have had no problems with it and its been on there for 3 years.
but paint edge placement is important.

I use super glue to seal my edges. Got to be careful with it thou. It will eat into your clear if you drip it on your tank and you will have to sand it down and buff it out. I've been using it for yrs.and haven't had a problem yet.
