ok, this is my first tank and fenders.working with hok.basically, im told not to use more than two to three coats of sg 100. im laying down some graphics with kk intensifiers, and a pearl.the tank is blk already, sanded with 500 to scuff the clear, ill paint the bottom half with a dark silver and give the illusion that the blk paint peeled off, so ill have the edge between the blk and silver. i want to put a purple pearl over that with sg 100. if i put one coat with pearl, one coat with out,ill let it dry scuff it with 500 , tape out my graphics, paint them with kk intensifiers with sg 100 , two coats of it. clear again with sg 100 to be able to knock down any edge, stripe, top coat clear a couple times, colorsand, clear again with top coat clear. dang thats alot of work. now when they say not to use more than 2-3 coats of sg 100 do they mean at one time , or is it ok if you dont put more than 2-3 coats per step? i hope this made sense. thanks for any coments.

With HOK's Intercoat clear you can go up to 4 coats at a time - This doen't mean you can put 4 coats down - let it dry - scuff it up and lay another 4 coats on top of it - If you work your way up to a total of 4 coats on top of each other - use a finish clear then scuff and finish your art -- I mix down my intercoat to 50/50 this way I can go up to 5 or 6 coats if needed - haven't had a problem with it yet - except with laying out 3m blue line tape after an hour of dry time - I put the tape down and masked - shot my next color and removerd the masking and the intercoat clear along with the metallic base had the tape/krinkled look to it -- Kinda what it looks like when you use cheap masking tape that leaves a residue -- Ther was no residue, but it looked just like it -- I give it over night to dry nowadays -- Bones!~

You said you were going to spray on a coat to knock down the paint edge. SG-100 is not
a high build clear and will not have enough thickness to sand down the edge. You'll have to clear with a top coat clear to knock down any edges.
