If I understand you correctly, you want ghost 'candy ghost stripes', but you want to use the base color as the base under the candy. If this is the case, you will need to take a pint of PMT, and either lighten or darken it (probably darken it), then you will apply the candy over the complete car. This will give you your ghost stripes. You might want to do a test pattern. If you don't do them darker or light enough, they will not be seen under the candy.
OR, if you do not plan on putting candy over the complete PMT surface, you can slightly darken this color and spray on your stripes. This will give you your ghost effect.

Hope this helps!

Candy will definately give it 'richness'. Depth is really achieved in wetsanding and buffing a 'flat' surface,

If you plan on spraying candy over the complete surface, this will be fine, but if you plan on just adding candy over the stripes, I wouldn't chance it. Candy is a 'dye' which means that when you spray your stripes with candy, and you go to clear the complete panel, it may 'bleed' and give you a blur edge on the stripes.
get down to basics and take the base color, tint it darker with more blue or black (more blue toner would be nice), the paint and clear.
I see a problem if you don't. Once you wetsand and buff, the contrast between the base your new stripe color will give you lot's of depth if you get the surface completely flat with no edge.

i planned on spraying the whole car with the kandy mixture, not just teh stripe thanks, that seems much easier than the wasy that i was told, which was silver base then tape the stripe spray some of the kandy mix, then untape and spray the whole thing untill desired effect,
i like the simple way better,

If you mean can you mix a standard base coat with clear and get candy? I dont think you will get the transparency you are looking for. Candy concentrates are transparent, base coats arent. Al

You can make candy by mixing the color with clear but using your color might not work well( I don't know that color code offhand). The problem is some of the mixing tints are too opaque or something and don't work out too well,so if your color has a bunch of these tints it may not turn out transparent without really clearing it down a ton. Then you'll be piling a ton of it on which isn't good.
