well all, thanks for all the help you have all given me. it has made jobs turn out a lot better. im sorry to say that my small shop is going to have to close. it sucks, but i cant find any more business. it was a nice 6 months while it lasted. im still going to do side work, but it wont be like a shop. im keeping all my tools and stuff, im just going to try to get into a body shop around here. thanks again for al the help, and dont worry, i will still come back often.

That sucks.Definately stick around. If you get into bodywork let me know if you need help too,I spent more of my career doing bodywork and rebuilding hard hits than painting.I had to go back to painting because climbing around frame racks was killing my body. There's also no money in hard hits and it gets old looking at the same job longer than 3 days, especially when you're walking around a cut up mess in your stall for days waiting on a hidden reinforcement panel that even parts can't find listed anywhere.Ah,the joy of it all

You will probably like doing on the side better. You can still make pretty good money and don't have the pressure of "I have to paint to pay the bills". I paint because I love to do it and in a shop it takes some of the fun out of it.
Good luck.

I agree with TWISTED, you enjoy it more when you do it on the side. i look at it this way, my job in the body shop pays the bills and what ever i make doing custom paint supports my habit( you can never have enough Toys

) E I you 'll do well.

thanks for the support guys. i appreciate it a lot. im looking at buying a late 80's S-10 Blazer, and it will be one of my toys. fully shaved, body dropped, bagged, with 18's or 19's, possibly chopped top and a custom paint job and defanetly a custom interior.

Be honest with your abilities and don't say you're the 'best' or imply it.They'll watch your work and tell you if they like your work.A good shop will put you in the area you're best at and the guys will help you if you need in certain areas, but there are alot of rotten places and employees with egos that wont give you the sweat off their .....s.I wish I had a buck for every time the boss said a new guy's starting and he's the best at this or that.Every one turned out to be butchers.Come to think of it alot they said were really good turned out the same.Don't disappear on us and good luck on the job hunt

I got a 80's S-10 Blazer for a toy but mine is going the opposite direction. It's 4 wheel drive and I am going to cram a 305 or 350 in it, big suspension, big tires, bumpers, lights and some wild paint.

Go with the 350 unless you know for sure you'll be happy with a 305,you're very limited with what you can do with a 305 other than minor mods and gearing.Parts are abundant for 350s and you can make it run however you want.

Good motor man. There used to be a few running around here in Redneckville a few years ago but I haven't seen one cranked up in the air for a while.
